FAQ

Why are you selling this car?
This is the best car I've ever owned, and I LOVE it. I'm going to miss it, but I've had to replace it with a slower Subaru wagon. (I need more hauling space.)

Why would I want this car?
It's great for Tahoe, both winter and summer, and it's very, very fast. The 2005 model year is the lightest STI Subaru ever sold in this country. It has the same power as the newest models, but is lighter, faster, and cheaper. The 2005 also features transmission improvements that make this car more reliable than the 2004.

Where is the car?
I'm garaging it at my house in Santa Clara, California. I work in Mountain View, so I'm happy to come meet you anywhere in between those places, or you can come to my house to look at it. Weekday mornings are best for me.

How much will you negotiate?
The price is firm, no negotiation please. This is a rare car in great condition, and my asking price is more than fair, below blue book. If you look at autotrader and craigslist you'll see that the dealers are asking over $20k for these things and getting it. I am not looking to gouge anyone, I just want a fair price and I think blue book is fair.

Are there any problems with the car?
It has a few small scratches. It has two scrapes on the lower sills where the previous owner had a few parking booboos. But it has no dents or damage. The rear STI badge is missing, see pictures. (The previous owner said it was stolen, and there's a small scratch at that spot.) I've never replaced it because I don't really care about stickers. There's also a small drip of oil that happens occasionally on long trips. I think it's coming from the oil cooler above the filter, and I notice it during oil changes. It's been like that for two years and never been a problem, but you could have it looked at.

How can I pay for the car?
Once you decide you want it, we will finish the transaction during banking hours. Typically I suggest we go to your bank together and you will get a cashiers' check made to me for the exact amount. We will then take it to Wells Fargo and deposit it in my account. Once the cashier clears it, I will sign the title over to you. No cash, no personal checks, no credit cards.

Will you ship the car to me?
No. You must drive the car away. If you buy the extra wheels you can take them with you; two will fit in the trunk and two more in the back seat. I'll give you plastic to protect the interior.

Can I test drive it?
Of course, but serious inquiries only, please. You'll need to have a valid, current driver's license. No clutch drops.
